Friday Music - [LP] (180 Gram, Translucent Red Vinyl, first time on vinyl, limited to 1000, indie-retail exclusive)
Hard rock guitar legend Tommy Bolin was a musical phenomenon and an American icon. His legendary musical career began in the late 60's, playing his unique style of hard rock, jazz, raga, blues and heavy metal to a devoted audience in Sioux City, Iowa, which later grew into bands the likes of Zephyr, Billy Cobham, James Gang and Deep Purple, sharing his legendary vocal, guitar and songwriting persona for millions of fans worldwide.Upon leaving Zephyr, Tommy was at a crossroads musically and was visioning a more wider array of sounds and techniques that were unheard of at the time and began to experiment with his short lived band Energy. Energy was a early progressive rock unit that showcased some of the of Bolin's stunning guitar styles which he would later carry his into the fusion world of guitar superstardom.Early sessions brought on some great music like the hard rockin' ''Red Skies,'' featuring Jeff Cook on vocals and a powerful Tommy Bolin guitar throughout the prog rock venture. Fusion works like ''Heartlight'' and ''Hoka Hey'' along with the classic rocker ''Got No Time for Trouble'' have all been deep fan favorite for years, rounding things out with the epic ''Naked Edge'' truly show what the Energy album should have been.Although a few LP's worth of studio and live material were recorded, a bona fide studio album never materialized, as the band was short lived and the project was shelved. Other than some bootlegs and fan club recordings that have surfaced over the years thanks to Tommy Bolin Archives, Tommy Bolin's Energy is finally seeing the much deserved attention with a first time ever official album release.Friday Music and The Tommy Bolin Archives are pleased to announce the first time ever release of Tommy Bolin's Energy.
